Start Your Journey

Whether your team is thriving and wants to stay well, burning out, rebuilding after conflict, or carrying the quiet exhaustion of the frontline —we meet you exactly where you are, and we do not flinch at what you are carrying.

Healing Is the Revolution.

Matkɛl is a Pan-African healing justice organization rooted in Indigenous knowing, ancestral grounding, and the understanding that collective liberation begins in the body.

We work with women and men, government institutions, movements, frontline workers, organizations, universities, and communities — across Africa and the African diaspora, and any community, anywhere, called to this work.

This is healing, team building, and collective, self-reflective work — addressing who you are now and who you are becoming. When you ground yourself, you build a better future, together with your people. This work is not only for those who are struggling.

Tending the Fire

– Wëc Lät Preventative accompaniment for those not yet in crisis: the ones still standing, still holding the line, who know that managing is not the same as being well. Most support arrives after the breaking. This arrives before it.

What changes

For the ones still standing — the ones holding the line, holding the room, holding everyone else. This offering is for movement workers, healers, and leaders who are not yet in crisis, who are managing, but who know that managing is not the same as being well.

The Healing Architect

Prof. Nyamal Biel Tutdeal

Nyamal is one of the most distinctive voices at the intersection of healing justice, peacebuilding, and ancestral wisdom on the global stage. A South Sudanese-Ethiopian-American Healer, Liberation Architect, and Decolonial Somatic Practitioner, her work spans the whole of Africa and the diaspora.

She has never been built for one lane — she is scholar, healer, professor, organizer, advocate, and community builder, all at once, all rooted in the same question:

What does it cost a people to survive, and what do they need to truly live?

Frequently Asked Questions

What size organizations do you work with?

All sizes — from small grassroots collectives to large multi-country organizations and government institutions. The design changes. The commitment does not.

Yes. We offer a sliding scale based on need. We do not believe access to healing should be determined by the size of your grant.

In some contexts, yes. We believe deeply in embodied, in-person work, but we understand that geography, accessibility, and resources are real. We will find what is possible, together.

This is the right question. Everything we build is designed to be held by your team — we do not create dependency on Matkɛl, we create capacity within your organization. We also offer follow-up support and check-ins as part of our engagements.

Good. That is often exactly the right moment for this work. We are not afraid of conflict — we are trained in it. We ask only that everyone arrives willing to be in the process.

Honestly, longer than a week. But a week can shift the ground. We plant something in the time we are with you, and the roots grow after we leave.

Not at all. Some of our strongest partnerships begin with teams that are already doing well and want to stay that way. There is no requirement to be broken to belong here — thriving is as good a reason to start as struggling is.
